Del Mar Fairgrounds Phase II Restoration, Del Mar, CA
The project occurred within San Dieguito Lagoon to the west of Interstate 5 and recontoured the Del Mar Fairgrounds southern dirt parking lot into an intertidal wetland . The 13.5 acre tidal salt marsh wetlands restoration project restored 9.5 acres of developed land to a tidal salt marsh. Over 60,000 CY of material was excavated with 45,000 exported to offsite disposal. Topsoil was salvaged and utilized to support plant growth. Irrigation, planting, trails, storm water improvements, biological monitoring and reporting and new vehicular access were all included in the project.
