In June 2016, NAVFAC SW awarded a negotiated Design-Build contract to Marathon Construction for emergency repairs to an existing parking facility at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. The project involved the design and construction of a steel sheet pile wall with concrete cap to protect the remaining parking area and protect the existing structures. 605 LF of sheet wall with 35’ long sheets were driven using a 418 Linkbelt crawler and an APE 600-6 vibratory hammer. The sheet wall included a 3’ tall concrete camp. Additional work include minor demolition, new electrical, fencing and gates, gabion repairs and new paving.
