The overall goal of this project was to implement the Habitat Restoration Plan for the Del Mar Fairgrounds South Overflow Lot-Phase II to a fully functioning, tidally influenced wetland area. The South Overflow Parking Lot is situated along the northern bank of the San Dieguito River, south of the Del Mar fairgrounds and consists of approximately 11.18 acres, which is the remaining portion of the lot bounded by the San Dieguito River Park Joint Powers Authority’s Coast to Crest Trail boardwalk and Jimmy Durante Blvd. Habitat restoration work included grading, irrigation installation and planting.
