Marathon Construction performed the design and construction in replacing the Pier 12 Marine Fender System with a floating foam filled fender system. Work included demolishing thirty-six (36) buckling column fenders, chains, chain brackets, anchors and ancillary items; cleaning and repairing the concrete fender backing panels and one (1) foam filled fender; installing UHMW-PE rub panels, thirty-six (36) floating foam filled fenders, chains, chain brackets and anchors at the Defense Fuel Support Point (DFSP) San Pedro, Long Beach, California, Harbor Terminal Island.
